An Interactive Guide To Furniture Design
UI & Branding | Photoshop, Illustrator | 10 Weeks
Create an interactive tablet application that takes the user on an illustrated journey of the history of iconic furniture design, through a view of culture, form, and function.
Through a timeline of deconstructed iconic models, create an immersive and educational visual breakdown of not only the aesthetic, but the designer, era, material and culture behind each example.
Furniture design is an art that is just as influential in modern life as paintings and sculpture. Illustrative and photographic representation in textbooks does not do such a three dimensional piece of art justice and the true thought and history behind pieces that surround everyday life can become under appreciated.
Present information through deconstructed “pieces of history” being assembled.
•Visual deconstruction of each furniture piece
•Filters via geometric representation
•Historical Background (Designer, Location, Era, Materials, Price, Style, Current Status)
•3D visuals of furniture
bright • refined • geometric • fragmented • airy • smooth • intelligent
While I pulled smooth bright colours from illustrative inspiration, I directed my focus towards three dimensional clean and well-lit spaces for the environment.
Interactive learning tools can enhance a person's understanding, especially if the topic is a very three dimensional area. Whereas books offer tangible gestures, tablet applications open the opportunities of more immersive designs, guidance, and moving images.
